What is a School Social Worker?

Social workers provide support to staff, students, parents/families, and the community.

Social workers at New Haven provide short-term crisis support for students in the building.

We are a point of contact for community resources and referrals for professional continued therapy.

Social Workers provide sustained support for special education and at-risk students who exhibit social interaction problems.

We network between students, teachers, parents and administration to come up with solutions to various issues that include behavior problems, conflict with peers, low self-esteem, and adjustments to significant life changes.

Services are provided on an individual, as well as group basis. Referrals are made to prevention services.

Social Skills groups are in place for both general education and special education students
